Candlenut

This spice is mostly known for its oil when crushed, especially its glutamic acid content. This oil makes meals taste better thus is often used as alternative to Mono Sodium Glutamate. Often candlenut oil is applied on black hair in order to make the black darker and shinier.

Candlenut aids in preventing heart attack and stroke in the way of preventing blood clot from forming. Good Candlenut is solid (no loose grains) and brownish white in color. Normal Candlenut diameter is between 2-4cm. Candlenut in Indonesia is often used crushed to cook chicken curry, chicken braised in coconut milk, and other rich curry meals.
